The central building of Vytautas Magnus University ( it was called Palace of Political Education then) was built in 1974. The architect B. Zabulionis had a not easy task to project a building which should had formed south - east corner on Vienybės Plaza. On the one part it should had been relevant to then existing built - up, on the second part,functional purpose of this building conditioned different look of façade's form, spatial design qualities. The building consist of three main volumes: Main Halls volume; Conference Hall, library, auditoriums. These are the biggest and pointed up. The conjunctive bulk is shorter and lightly pettier. This building is one of the first examples of expressive modernism in Kaunas. Its expression based on interesting combination of simple forms, different high all of bulks and that matter is that all these qualities ware aesthetically shaped to buildings functional purpose.
