The draft for building up the residential house in Birštonas prepared by architect G. Natkevičius should not be viewed solely in terms of its architectural quality. First and foremost, it is a socio-economic solution offering an alternative for the undergoing and very conventional renovation of Soviet blocks of flats. However, ideally, the extra floors should not only generate better living conditions for their residents but should also inspire positive changes in the layout of the old buildings.
