The State Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) building is a classic example of Lithuanian postmodernist architecture of the 90s. A dynamic composition is created by actively employing color and geometrical symbolism. There are elements of historical architecture as well. Pillars, a pediment, an expressive cornice are interpreted freely, as usual for postmodernism. However, historical elements are quite eclectic – a quick look at the building will hardly reveal any features characteristic to the city. Therefore, although the expressive building definitely catches the eye and achieves its main goal – to creative an interactive form – shortly after the construction it received “controversial views from both the architects and the general public”. Today the building is quickly becoming obsolete and is viewed as an example of past architectural trends.
